What does LADA dee da mean?
LADA stands for Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults. It is a form of type 1 (formerly called juvenille) diabetes. LADA often progresses much slower than type 1, but the treatment is usually the same (insulin).
When I first started this blog, I thought I had LADA because of my age at diagnosis (25). As it turns out, I’m a pretty typical type 1 (rapid progression/fast honeymoon, immediate need for insulin, etc.). But, since I already paid for the domain name, it stuck. Now, I kinda like it.
I use Apidra insulin in an Omnipod insulin pump. I also use a DexCom Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). I can’t imagine what my life would be like without them.
As for the “dee da,” well, I was just looking for a catchy title.

You need to update this…Minimed is gone, remember.
