Who I Read

I’m fairly new to this whole blogging thing.  I actually had to look at my first post to see when I started (FWIW, my first post here is not my original first post).  As it happens, I’ve been doing this little gig for over two years this month.  Huh?  Maybe I’m not so new after all?

I’ve always liked to write.  It isn’t something that I’ve cultivated through years and years of education (although, I did my share).  Writing just comes easily to me.  I don’t like speaking (don’t ask me to chat on the phone because I just don’t do it), but I’ll write your eyes off!

But, I also like to read - on average, I read two books per week.  I read nearly every night before I go to sleep, and I rarely leave the house without my trusted Kindle 2.  I also read blogs.  I’m more of a lurker, but if you write a blog related to the D community, chances are pretty good that I’m reading it.  It’s always amazing to me how similar we are, and how the experiences *I* always thought were my own are really shared by most of us.

Before I found the Diabetes Online Community (DOC), I could count the diabetics I knew on one finger.  I’m not much of a people person, so the idea of spending time with large groups of diabetics didn’t appeal to me.  The DOC, however, does because I can write.  And I can read.  And I don’t have to speak.  It’s the perfect environment for an introvert like me.

So, who do I read regularly?  Well, you could just take a look at my blogroll.  I LOVE these blogs and read them daily.  I sometimes spot something in one or two of them that reads as if I wrote it (usually the sarcastically bitchy stuff).  Funny how that happens.
